Being a host for television, red carpet, video or anything is no easy job....but after getting their make up and hair done, these ladies are definitely ready!
Since you never know how many wardrobe changes a host may have, it's best to keep the make up clean and pretty. Focus on even brows, light contouring and making sure the eyes pop.

Vivica sparkles at "Sparkle"...
Everyone was talking about the premiere of the much anticipated film "Sparkle". Not only was this the great Whitney Houston's last film, this was a way for people to celebrate who she was and how fabulous she was, one more time. The movie had an amazing all-star cast, so you know the Hollywood red carpet was nothing short of stars shining and sparkling for the occassion. Vivica Fox was one of the celebs who showed up and showed out!
She wanted her look to be natural and bronzy, so that's what I gave her! Her dress was a gorgeous creme and gold sparkle number by Naeem Khan. She looked fabulous in it!! The look was classic simple beauty, and I loved it! Check out a few behind the scenes shots before she arrived at the premiere, and how she rocked the carpet! xo

Head shot Makeup
I do a lot of head shot makeup because I have a very natural approach to beauty. My motto when it comes to make up is "less is more", and I stand by it:) My style of artistry is very clean and I like to make the client look like themselves, just enhanced. One of my good friends, Jahnika Blythe, is an aspiring actress and she was taking new head shots, so of course I assisted her with the make up. You also have to make sure you have a good photographer that knows how to capture the real you, since you have to look the same in person. The photographer she used was Kem West at www.kemwestphotography.com He has great work!
Here are a few steps to a beautiful head shot makeup:
First things first, make sure those eyebrows are clean and groomed. Next you prime your skin with an oil free, matte control primer. This is great in case you shoot at different locations and you get shiny. Concealer is your best friend when doing head shot makeup, because of all the highlights and shadows in our faces, using a lighter colored concealer in the right places naturally creates depth. Next dust a light oil free pressed powder the same color as your neck over your face to create the warm tones in the face. Since it's head shots, you don't have to use eyeshadow, but if you do it must be almost the same color as your skin tone. I just take the same blush color I use to warm and add color to the face using the same blush brush, and sweeping it over the lids. Add mascara, and as far as a lip color...neutral, non-glossy is best.
The key is to look as natural as possible....too much makeup can throw off the casting directors. So if you have a smokey eye or a red lip, or too much eyeliner on your current head shots (for acting)...it's time to redo them:) Good luck! xo

Vivica Fox meets Obama!!
Yes, that's right! Vivica Fox among other celebrity guests and Obama supporters had breakfast with the President in Los Angeles last week. Her look for this encounter was definitely important to her, so she enlisted the assistance of myself and her hairstylist, Dr. Boogie to get her glammed up for the big moment!
Her dress was pretty conservative, so we wanted to keep the make up and hair clean and classic...dolling her up First Lady style. Also, since she's rocking the short cut, her face had to make a statement all it's own. I just kept the make up natural, while playing up the eyes with Stila Black Liner in Kajal, and my favorite lash, the Demi Wispies. The blush a mixture of MAC Raisin and NARS Deep Throat. The lip color is MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme in 'Love Forever' with a little gold gloss in the pout! We loved this look, and hopefully Obama did too!

Stacey...in a dash:)
Stacey Dash is keeping herself busy these days, so that means I am too! Here's a quick look at what she's doing...We were shooting the other day and I gave her a light day makeup look that was natural and that would last all day. All I had to keep touching up was her lips and her blush as she loves color in her face. We spent most of the time outside, so the look was very fresh and dewy. Check out some behind the scenes shots of our fun day.
Her favorite lip color right now is Chanel's Coquette. It provides her the color she needs in a sheer form, so it just looks like a natural mouth. It's a great color for the summer, with a dab of YSL Golden Gloss in the pout:) xo

Movie Magic...
Although, I'm always doing Vivica Fox for red carpets and appearances....she sometimes invites me on movie sets with her to glam her up "character" style:) In this particular movie she plays a fabulous music agent, and her look had to be simple but pretty. We kept the make up clean and natural with more focus on the lips and skin. I can't reveal too much, just take a quick look at some shots I took behind the scenes...

Your "Premier Face"
PREMIER: Coming before all others in time or order; leading, beginning...
That's the definition of premier, and your "premier face" is just the beginning of your make up regimen. This is the look you must perfect for yourself before you begin to build up and experiment with all the make up out there. My "less is more" approach when it comes to make up stems from the idea of the premier face. Make up should be just enhancing your natural beauty on a day to day basis. Stage, movie, editorial, and red carpet make up is more intense, and not for everybody. When doing your premier face, the key things to remember to focus on are the brows, the skin, and the placement of the products you use. Ultimately, you want people to see you and say "you look pretty" vs. "your make up is pretty"...then the make up becomes a mask that you hide behind, and you don't feel beautiful without it.

In this photo, the model is ready for her close up using the most basic tools, and minimal products to create her look. To find out more details on how to achieve this polished look, or to create your own premier face, keep an eye out for my tell all book...coming soon!!

Vivica promotes holiday movie...
Here is Vivica Fox looking flawless in her morning appearance on Access Hollywood Live. She was promoting her new movie 'Annie Claus is Coming to Town' which aired December 10th on the Hallmark Channel. We kept her make up look very simple and fresh. Especially since it was High Def television, the more natural the make up...the better!
Chanta goes west...

My client and good friend Chanta Patton set up a shoot for herself that was absolutely AMAZING!! She enlisted her dream glam squad to shoot with photographer, Isaiah Mays, and the rest was history. Myself, and wardrobe guru Mr. Bradshaw got her ready for her close up:) She killed the shoot as you can see! Great work everybody.....I love it!!

Make Up on the go....
My client K. Briscoe always has me do her make up before she goes to do any type of press. I never know where she's going, but I found some footage of her with the make up look on:) She wanted a natural girl next door look, and we did just that! She is talking about her new single "Dishes" featuring Busta Rhymes and the reason she wrote the song. Check it out!
If you haven't heard the song, here is a look at some behind the scenes footage of the actual video. You'll see the make up isn't so girl next door anymore:) Enjoy!
